Skilled Visas

Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)
A points-tested permanent residency visa for skilled workers who are not sponsored by an employer, a state or territory, or a family member. Your occupation must be on the relevant skilled occupation list, and you must have a suitable skills assessment and competent English. State Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)
A points-tested permanent visa for skilled workers nominated by an Australian state or territory government. Nomination adds extra points and may broaden the range of eligible occupations, but each state sets its own requirements and occupation priorities. Regional Skilled Visa (Subclass 491)
A points-tested provisional visa for skilled workers willing to live and work in designated regional areas of Australia, nominated by a state or territory or sponsored by an eligible family member living in a regional area. It is valid for five years and provides a pathway to permanent residency through the Subclass 191 visa once the regional residence and income requirements are met. Skills Assessments & EOIs
Almost every skilled visa requires a positive skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority for your occupation, followed by an Expression of Interest (EOI) lodged through SkillSelect.
